Travelling to new places is always exciting, but visiting the places you have already seen before is like reliving the good times. The second time around is an opportunity – to explore the city at a slower pace, enjoy the sights & sounds and savor the local food – and when the trip is about to get over – it feels like leaving one home for another.

I was nominated by Angela, to do this post about ‘5 Places I’d love to revisit’. A wonderful fellow blogger, she travels the world and shares her adventures at Angela Travels.

Surely, not easy to just pick five places out of so many I need to visit again.

These are the top 5 places, I’d love to revisit.

1. Hampi, India

A mesmerizing city of ruins with beautiful temples, skillfully carved statues and ornate Palaces – it is on top of my list to visit again. On our last trip to Hampi, we spent an entire day exploring the historical sites and really enjoyed our bike ride along the rocky path of this erstwhile city of Vijayanagar Empire. Some of the temples here are breathtakingly beautiful such as the ‘Vijaya Vithala Temple’ which glows in the light of the sun. Next time, we want to spend a complete week in the city watching these magnificent structures and relaxing in the temple’s courtyard along the Tungabhadra River to take in all the beauty.

2. Savannah, Georgia

One of the stops on our East Coast road trip and it surely was one of the best. We enjoyed seeing the historical buildings, walking on the cobblestone streets and tasting the famous sweet delicacies of the city. But we were not able to explore the city completely or see all the places we wanted to see due to heavy rains during that time. And even the tour we were supposed to take was cancelled, so this time when we are there again – I would like to finish the tour and enjoy a few days in the beautiful city of Savannah.

3. San Francisco, California

A city which offers amazing views, delicious food and lovely weather – we fell in love with it on our first visit. Definitely, no amount of time is enough to experience this wonderful city. We were there for about three days – walked the Golden Gate bridge, cruised along the bay and tasted the delicious seafood and feel that we have to re-visit the city soon.

4. Sravanabelagola, India

Sravanabelagola, known for the massive monolithic statue of Gomateshwara – is such a amazing place to see. We visited it few years back and missed the Mahamastakabhisheka – a celebration and a spectacle to watch at-least once in a lifetime. During the festival, the towering statue is showered with milk, saffron & sandalwood, and prayers are offered by the devotees. I really wish to see it this time, as the next one is coming up in 2018 and I don’t want to miss that for anything in the world.

5. New Orleans, Louisiana

Another fabulous city, which looks perfect any time of the year. We visited it in February and had so much fun on the Bourbon Street (also known as the party street). And the best part was the Mardi Gras celebration over the weekend which is an incredible show of floats, costumes and the colorful beads. I would like to visit the city again to relive the Mardi Gras excitement and relish the Cajun-creole cuisine.

This wonderful idea for a post is inspired by “Booked.netTop Destinations to Go There“. And I would like to nominate five people to make their lists.

Hope you all enjoy it. 🙂

Yes, we couldn’t explore Savannah as much but we did enjoy the River Street. And Nola is such an interesting place, and especially during Mardi Gras – I definitely will be back there next year.

  2. I enjoy seeing places people have visited and their thoughts on it. You hit on two places I want to go – Savannah and New Orleans, and one I have been to and really liked – San Francisco. So much to see, do and experience in one city. I have a friend that was born and raised in India, and I have heard it is a great place for photography. Thanks for sharing!

  4. New Orleans is totally on my list of place to re-visit! I was there when I was 15 and feel like I didn’t actually get to see the city. Plus it would be way different as an adult, particularly during mardi gras!

  5. I have some great Indian friends and through their friendship I have developed a desire to visit India. Visiting during the Festival of Lights is high on my list. I have never heard of the Mahamastakabhisheka Festival. When is it held? Thanks, Wooly.

Mahamastakabhisheka in Sravanabelagola happens once in 12 years, next one will be in 2018 (exact dates are still not out) and it goes on for a few days.
