State Fair of Texas is one among the biggest State fairs in the country. And this October, it was the 130th year of this celebrated and much awaited event in Texas.
Bought the tickets from Walgreens to avoid the long lines at the fair. And after parking the car, we walked straight to the gate, got through the security line pretty quickly. But it was super-crowded, what else could we expect on the last day of the event. And no guesses for what we were looking forward to the most – the mouth-watering fried food.
The first step before tasting the delicious food is to buy the coupons – as only with coupons one can buy food or get rides. But we didn’t realize that it will be such a time consuming activity and we were in lines for over 45 minutes before we finally got hold of some of this precious paper money.
Began the fair experience with the Auto Show, which is considered one of the must-see exhibits – it was interesting with a variety of brands showcasing their new models. Next up, was or had to be the – 2016 Most Creative food creation – yes, we got the State Fair Cookie Fries and surely those were out-of this-world delicious.
The fried food tasting continued with the cheesy Fried corn crunch which paired perfectly with the fried Twinkie and gave us reason to try out the unique flavors of the Texas Fair. Next up was the acrobatic show at the Illumination stage, we took our seat 10 minutes before and the thrilling show lasted for about twenty minutes with amazing acrobatic moves like balancing on a tilted chair to air jumps.
After the show ended, we went towards the Big Tex and managed to click a few selfies amidst the crazy crowd. And then back to more food, to the most creative foods from the previous years – we tried the sweet potato pie, fried stuffed chicken and many other delicious treats.
Next, The Taylor Swift exhibit was on my list and it showcased her life and music career beautifully. There were dresses she wore to many red carpet events and information about her famous singles. From here we went towards the animal farm and enjoyed seeing the cute puppies and chickens.
By 6 pm, we were ready to leave after enjoying a perfect day at the state fair.
