The tranquil waters which reflect the beauty all around is called the Mirror Lake. On Day 4 of our trip to the 49th State, we started the day with yummy breakfast and checked out of Anchorage hotel to drive to Denali. The very first stop was Mirror Lake – which is about an hour’s drive from Anchorage. Parked our car and walked up to the splendid views on a beautiful sunny day (the first one for this trip).

The beautiful weather, blue skies reflecting in the pristine water and lush mountains all around made for a breathtaking vista. We soaked in the unforgettable views and spent some time in the quite surroundings just gazing at the beauty of nature.

Clicked some amazing pictures, had coffee by the lake which we picked up on our way there and enjoyed a peaceful beginning to our 4 hours drive to Denali. Thereafter, we were back in the car and drove continuously until our next lunch stop. Drove by Wasilla, Houston (yes Texans, there is one in Alaska too), Trapper Creek and then entered the Denali State Park.

View on the way in Denali National Park

We stopped multiple times on the way to enjoy the views of the snowy mountains which seemed to get closer and closer. Had lunch on the way and the sun was almost hidden behind the clouds by the time we were driving through Denali. On the way, there was Denali view North, we parked the car and got off to get a peek of the mighty Denali.

But as everyone says, Denali was elusive that day too and clouds are to be blamed for this. From the North view, you can see a big part of the Alaskan mountain range covered in snow. We hoped that the next day will be clear and we will see the Denali in all its glory. Got back in the car and drove through to our final destination of the day – our amazing stay in Denali. We were there by 6 pm, checked in and couldn’t stop ourselves from enjoying the vistas.

Vies from our Cabin

By the creek next to a snowy mountain – that was our view for all the days of our last leg of this trip. And it was time to unpack and sit outside with a cup of tea & Straw-Rhub Coffee cake. Enjoyed a long evening and ended the Day 4 of our trip on a yummy note.
