No trip to San Francisco is complete without a ride on the famous cable car. That’s what everyone says and they are right !

But it all begins with a little hard work i.e. getting in a long line before you finally get to enjoy the bumpy ride. We waited for about half an hour, before we got our chance to take the seats on board. It took a little while to fill and they started it when it was brimming with people (some people like to hang on to side bars and stand for the entire time which is not possible on any other mode of transportation).

When the car lurches ahead, you know you are in for a ride of your life. The hilly terrain of the city makes it fun, as it tends to pick up speed on its way down and of course, it slows down while climbing those steep roads. We got on to the cable car near fisherman’s wharf and our one-way ticket brought us all the way to Union Square. It was like a thrilling ride in an amusement park except that this goes through the beautiful city of San Francisco.

I would say, it is one of the best things to do in Frisco.

  1. Thanks for stopping by my blog earlier today – I’m happy to discover yours!

This post about SF caught my eye. A local’s tip: go wait for the cable car a step or two into its route rather than at the originating stop. They still stop as they go about the route, and there’s usually less of a wait!
